Travel Service

We are now offering a new service arranging travel for refugee family reunion.

This service will be in addition to their existing grants provision and will be a chargeable service.

Applications for this service must meet our criteria as set out below:

• Primary applicant must have UK refugee status, ILR or Humanitarian Protection
• Applicant’s family must hold the appropriate travel documents to enter the UK under family reunion legislation
• Applications must be completed and endorsed by a referral organisation

The service will provide additional support for those who are able to fund their family reunion independently. We are able to access additional travel services not available to families directly and are now able to open this up to self funding families.

These additional benefits can include:

• More flexibility on flights and bookings
• Additional luggage allowance on some airlines
• Being able to book one way travel to the UK
• Savings on the fare

We will only process applications where these benefits will make a difference to the applicant.

A charge on each application will be made amounting to 10% of the cost saving made or a minimum of £10 per flight*. Each application must provide details of existing quotes received to demonstrate that a saving can be made. If the benefit will come through other features of this service details must be provided on the application form.

The charges on the applications will go directly to providing grants to those who are not able to afford to fund the travel themselves. All applications will be processed by volunteers.

All applications will be approved at the discretion of the Refugee Welcome Trust based on the above criteria and available resources.
